Expectations
In Year 1 of the IB program, 6th graders should have an introduction to the concept of “community” and what is means to serve others. This is the exposure year. The expectation for these students is that by the end of first semester, they should turn in a visual reflection answering the above questions. Second semester, they should complete at least one service experience and reflection (either visual or written).
Grade 7 - Action
What can I do to serve my community?
What does it mean to think globally, act locally? What should I do?
What can I do in my own life that will contribute to the Littleton community?
Expectations
Year 2 of the IB program is the action year. This is where students start to take on a more active role in the community they were introduced to in year 1. Students are expected to complete 1 service experience and written reflection per semester.

How do I lead a group to help the community?
As a global citizen, what actions can I take to make the world a better place?
As an individual, how can I make a difference in the world community?
Expectations
During year 3 of the IB program students should develop leadership skills related to their community and world at large. 8th graders will be expected to complete 2 service experiences with written reflections per semester. In addition, students will develop a community service plan based on something they have learned or experienced during their time at Newton. They will be encouraged to follow up their written plan with action.
